Fastic vs MyFoodBuddy, feature by feature
Fastic is a fasting app that also tracks food. MyFoodBuddy is a food tracker that does not track fasting. Which one fits depends on whether your plan is about when you eat or what you eat.

Two rows matter most. Fasting timer is Fastic’s whole reason to exist, and MyFoodBuddy does not have one. Protein, carbs and fat is the reverse. MyFoodBuddy shows them on every food, while Fastic’s pages talk about calories and nutrients without saying which ones it tracks.

How Fastic works day to day
Fastic is made by Fastic GmbH in Berlin. Here is the routine as its App Store listing and website describe it.
- Take the quiz. You get a personalized fasting plan, such as 16/8, and a newer protein fasting mode pairs fasting with high-protein recipes.
- Start the timer. The fasting timer counts down your fast, and Body Status shows which fasting stage you are in.
- Scan your meal. The Food Scanner estimates calories and nutrients from a photo when you eat.
- Track the rest. Water with reminders, steps and weight, synced with the Health app. A Fastic Score sums up fasting, hydration, sleep and nutrition.
- Ask the AI. An in-app AI chat answers questions about nutrition and meals.
- On Fastic Plus. A recipe book of 4,500+ recipes, short courses in Fastic Academy, daily and weekly challenges, Fasting Buddies and a daily plan.

How MyFoodBuddy works day to day
MyFoodBuddy has no timer and no eating window. You eat when you eat, and log it in a sentence.
- Say what you ate. Type or speak a normal sentence, like two eggs, toast with butter and a coffee with oat milk.
- Check the cards. Fiona splits it into foods and amounts and shows calories, protein, carbs and fat for each before anything is saved.
- Scan packaged food. The barcode scanner is included.
- Fix it by chatting. Tell Fiona what changed and she updates the entry.
- Ask Fiona. What is left for today, or how your week went.
- Stay with it. Streaks, a color-coded calendar, friends and leaderboards, and Apple Health sync for weight, sleep, steps and workouts.

How much does Fastic cost compared to MyFoodBuddy
Fastic does not publish a price list on its website. The US App Store lists Fastic Plus in-app purchases from $12.99 to $79.99, and only two name their length, $14.99 for 1 month and $27.99 for 3 months. The listing says Plus comes in 1, 3 and 12 month terms, so we do not quote a yearly price we could not confirm.
| App | Plan | Monthly | Yearly | Includes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| MyFoodBuddy | Yearly | n/a | $39.99 | Everything, after a 7-day free trial |
| MyFoodBuddy | Monthly | $7.99 | n/a | Everything, billed monthly |

|---|---|---|
| Free use | Free version with the timer, food scanner and trackers | No free version |

| A full year | Shown in the app. App Store purchases go up to $79.99 | $39.99 |
If fasting is all you want, the free Fastic app may be enough. If you want detailed food tracking, compare what you get for the money, not just the price.
Is Fastic free, and what does Fastic Plus add
Yes, the app is free to use without paying. Fastic’s terms say installing the app is always free and paid features are booked separately. Its App Store listing splits the features like this.
| Free app | Fastic Plus |
|---|---|
| Fasting timer and Body Status | Recipe book with 4,500+ recipes |
| Food and calorie tracker with the Food Scanner | Fastic Academy courses |
| In-app AI chat | Daily and weekly challenges |
| Step counter and water tracker | Fasting Buddies |
| Health app sync | A daily plan, progress insights and expert guidance |
Whether Plus is worth it depends on how much you use recipes and challenges. The core fasting tools are in the free app.
Can Fastic track calories and macros, not just fasting
Partly. Fastic has a Food and Calorie Tracker and a photo Food Scanner that, according to Fastic, identifies foods and tracks their nutrients and calories from a picture. Its pages do not say which nutrients beyond calories it tracks, and we could not confirm typed or spoken meal logging or a barcode scanner from its public pages.
MyFoodBuddy is built for this part. You describe the meal in a sentence or scan a barcode, and every food shows calories, protein, carbs and fat, with fiber, sugar, sodium and 20+ vitamins and minerals tracked across the day. Numbers come from USDA FoodData Central, Edamam and Open Food Facts. When nothing matches, the AI estimates and shows you the card before anything is saved.
Can you cancel Fastic Plus, and how the refund works
- Fastic advertises a 14-day free trial and says that if you decide within that period Fastic is not right for you, it refunds the full amount.
- Its App Store listing says plans auto-renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before renewal, and that subscriptions cannot be canceled mid-term.
- Its terms say ending Plus takes effect at the end of the term you chose and is not refundable as such.
- For App Store purchases, Apple handles refunds.
The practical advice is to decide inside the 14 days, especially before a 3 or 12 month term starts.
Is Fastic legit, and what do reviews say
Fastic is a real company, Fastic GmbH in Berlin, with 246K App Store ratings averaging 4.8 and about 421K reviews on Google Play. App Store reviewers often say the fasting stages and badges keep them going, and one says the free version alone helped. Older reviews mention settings that were hard to change, which a reviewer later said an update fixed.
You will see words like subscription trap in searches about Fastic. Fastic addressed this itself in September 2026, writing that a Berlin court dismissed a lawsuit from the Federation of German Consumer Organisations over the ordering process for a prevention course sold in Germany. Fastic notes the decision is not yet final.
One caution. Fastic’s listing makes broad health claims for fasting. MyFoodBuddy makes no medical claims, and if you have a medical condition, check with a doctor before you start fasting.
